Large Aperture Lenses: Solving Critical SMT Mounting Inspection Challenges
This article examines how large aperture machine vision lenses address critical challenges in SMT mounting inspection. With component placement speeds exceeding 60,000 parts per hour and sizes shrinking to 0.4mm × 0.2mm, traditional optics struggle with limited exposure times and variable surface reflectivity. The Oklab FT230 Series, featuring F/1.4 aperture and support for 10MP sensors with 2.5μm pixels, delivers 4X more light gathering than typical F/2.8 lenses. Implementation results show 35% reduction in false rejects, 25% increased production speeds, and 42% improvement in defect detection for fine-pitch components.
